As a 23 year old graduate, who has zero knowledge in the Indian stock market, how do I begin my path in it? Do I take a professional course? Are there college degrees which I can take up as masters for the same? Not looking at it as a hobby.
As you are very young and 21 years of old, it’s the best time to enter the stock market business. Before starting investment you need to educate yourself about this great business. As a value investor I personally want to see that a lots of young traders, investors are coming to join this stock market business for the building of our nation very strong and healthy.
According to “The economic times” :-
The total number of investor accounts were 153.3 lakh at NSDL and 119.2 lakh at CDSL at the end of January 2017. Depository providerrecorded a 13.2% jump in demat accounts while its rival saw a growth of 6.6% last year.
(Just think how much less number of demat accounts are there in India…!)
Now coming to your questions, I just want to say it is not necessary to have a professional degree or any financial courses to start this stock market. I have some friends who are from commerce and MBA background but they know nothing about the reality of stock market and some of them unaware even about technical and fundamental analysis about any company.
So what you need to move forward is experiences of genius traders and investors. You need to gain your practical knowledge by practicing paperwork and doing experiment. If you can make it as a passion and hobby then nobody can stop you to get succeed. I have also come in this great business with zero knowledge in 2014, but now it is my passion, after coming from school in the evening I like to spend my time by doing technical and fundamental analysis of the companies in which I want to invest in and I can do it for several hours because I love to do it.
If you have a passion on it then automatically you will start studying and learning from various resources. I have already answered and discussed in my previous answers about how to learn investing in Indian stock market, you can read them.
